Army list

Dwarf Lord on shieldbearers, gw, RoStone, handgun
A cheap lord that can still take a beating and give one back. The handgun is there because he's a swashbuckling privateer captain, and the cool AoW mini I'm going to use for him is modelled with one.

Thane BSB w/ MRoGromril
A staple in any dwarf army in my opinion. Also, it gives a good modelling centerpiece for a dwarfified Jolly Roger

18 Longbeards w/ sh, fc
19 Longbeards w/ sh, fc
20 Longbeards w/ sh, fc
This army list from the beginning has been based around war machines. It will live and die by the cannon. Therefore, it needs a stout defense from its mainline troops. Being immune to panic, these guys will stick around.

10 Warriors w/ gw
10 Warriors w/ gw
I'm pretty sure my detachment strategy with these guys will not work. Dwarfs are simply too slow. It only rarely works when you have an Anvil, and I don't have an Anvil. I should also probably have Hammerers to hold the enemy in place instead of Longbeards, but I don't have Hammerers (cause the cannons take up the Specials).

10 Warriors w/ sh
I haven't tried this unit out myself, but am intrigued and have heard good things about it. For 90 points I have a LD9 AS3+ unit that can take stand up Fast Cav and other flankers. Of course, if I don't position them right Fast Cav can just run around them. But if they are ignored, then they get me a 100 point Table Quarter and earn their points back just for taking a walk.

10 Thunderers
10 Quarrelers
The standard in Dwarf small-arms support units. The Thunderers just come standard in a piratey themed army, and the quarrelers are in my opinion a better all-around unit (3 points cheaper and longer range).

Cannon w/ RoBurning, engineer
Cannon, engineer
Cannon, engineer
Cannon, engineer
DOW Cannon
The meat of the army. This was actually inspired by an army Ed Maule put together with Empire bringing 4 Great Cannons and 2 STanks. Of course, 4 D6 and 2 D3 cannons are better than 5 D3s, but I do have engineers and a flaming cannon to help make up a little of the difference.

Gyrocopter
The army list originally had two DOW cannons to more closely mimic the Maule version. However, once I started thinking the army through modelling-wise I decided to go with a Gyrocopter. Besides, it also gives me mobility on the battlefield.

New Idea

Well, since I'm waiting on a new codex to be released before starting on my LED Tau army, I will need to start a new project in the interim. Next month I'll be moving into a new house. Included in this house will be my own study. Finally a workspace I can close off from the pets and leave work out. One of the main deterrents I face right now to working on the hobby is the time it takes to setup and tear down. It seems hardly worth it for painting a single miniature, though that is the amount of time I usually have each evening.

So, the new idea will be Fantasy geared, since that is what dominates the Indy Circuit. The Lonewolf GT is mid-March, and that will be my goal to army completion. Chances are it won't happen, but it is always good to establish goals. The army will be Barak Varr Sea Dogs. Based roughly on the English Privateers and Sir Francis Drake. The list I've been toying around with revolves around 5 cannons. I mean, how can you field a sea-faring dwarf army with any less? I'll post the actual list later as well as some test minis. Arrr!!!
